What is the difference between Product Manager and a Product Owner?

Product Owner is a role you play on a Scrum team. Product Manager is the job.

Both the product manager and the product owner have the same aim in mind: to create and enhance products that add value to consumers and other stakeholders within the company. This is usually accomplished through the delivery and optimization of product features.

While there are some overlaps, the product owner and product manager have distinct roles to play in the product management process.

The product manager determines what users require, prioritizes what should be built next, and unites the team around a product roadmap.

The product owner is in charge of generating and maintaining the product backlog in order to maximize the product’s value. In the Scrum method, the PO writes user stories for the development team and delivers the customer’s voice.
